CUTTACK: Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Sunday trained his guns at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for accusing Narendra Modi of imposing Emergency in Delhi.
Taking a swipe at Kejriwal, the defence minister said, “He (Kejriwal) criticizes and abuses Prime Minister every day in public and grabs headlines, which clearly reflects that there is no Emergency.” “Had there been an Emergency-like situation, no one would have had the courage to criticize the Prime Minister,” added Parrikar.

Launching a scathing attack against Kejriwal, Parrikar said, “If you are doing wrong, then you have to face punishment for it. Kejriwal and his cabinet ministers keep doing wrong things and when action is initiated against them, every time he blames Prime Minister for it. He has developed the habit of blaming Prime Minister for everything.”
Parrikar was in the city to address the Vikash Utsav programme, organized to mark Modi’s two years in office. On the occasion, Parrikar also attacked Congress. “During UPA’s regime, there was widespread corruption in the country. But our government is conducting auctions of mines and spectrum and not a single question has been raised over it.” He also recalled the days of 1975 Emergency on the occasion. "June 25, 1975 was a black night for Indian democracy when Emergency was declared by Congress. I really feel strange when Congress talks about ‘censorship’ and Hitler’s rule," he said.
On the occasion, Parrikar highlighted the achievements of his government and discussed the various schemes launched by Modi government. "Our country is changing and changing for good. People have developed faith in our government,” he added. Union oil minister Dharmendra Pradhan was also present on the occasion.
