How to check ITR-V receipt status
NEW DELHI: After filing your income tax return, the next important step is to make sure you have verified your I-T return. Once Income Tax Return filing deadline expires, the Income Tax department starts sending notices to taxpayers who have filed ITR through the e-portal. As per the Income Tax laws, the ITR-verification needs to be completed in 120 days after filing the return.
Those who have filed their ITR and now wants to verify their tax returns can follow the steps given below:
Taxpayers can verify their ITR either electronically using One-Time-Password (OTP), verification code-EVC, or physically (offline) by sending a signed copy of ITR-V to the Income Tax Department at below address:

Bengaluru- 560100, Karnataka, India
How to check the ITR-V receipt status?
  • Now the next step is to check the ITR-V receipt status. For this, visit the official website of Income Tax at incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and log in using your User ID, Password and security code as shown on the login page.
  • Next, under the ‘Quick Links’ tab you will see "ITR status" button, click on it
  • A new page will open
  • Now, enter the PAN and acknowledgement number of the ITR filed and captcha code as shown on the screen
  • The current status of your ITR-V will be displayed on the screen
  • You can keep checking the status of ITR-V till it has reached CPC, Bengaluru within 120 days of you filing your ITR.
  • Once the ITR-V reaches CPC, the I-T Department will send you a confirmation notification through email or SMS. The intimation of processing of the ITR will be sent later.

While sending your ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru, make sure you follow these tips:
Dos
  • Send the ITR-V only through ordinary post or speed post
  • ITR-V should be printed in black ink only and use A4 paper
  • You must sign the ITR-V print out (preferably using blue ink)
  • Signature on ITR-V should match with your sign on PAN Card
  • Make sure bar code and numbers below ITR-V is clearly visible

Don'ts
  • Do not send ITR-V via courier. It will not be accepted
  • Don't write anything on the back of ITR-V file
  • Do not fold ITR-V as it might temper bar code printed on it
  • Do not send any other document/s along with ITR-V
