NEW DELHI: Equity markets staged a comeback on Wednesday as both
Sensex and
Nifty gained close to a per cent each.
30-share BSE Sensex gained 304.83 points to close at 37,717.96 while the broader 50-share NSE Nifty closed at 11,369.90, up 82.40 points.
Investor sentiments boosted in mid-day trade after opening on a cautious note, as the
rupee firmed up significantly to 72.25 against the US
dollar, sobering from the all-time low of 72.91, that it had plunged to, in mid-day trading.

All the sectoral sub-indices finished in the green with Nifty FMCG and Nifty Metal rallying 2.5 per cent and 1.5 per cent, respectively.
