Bijnor: Six dead, two critically injured in boiler blast at chemical factory

BIJNOR: As many as six people died and two got critically injured in a boiler blast at a chemical factory in Bijnor’s Nagina on Wednesday early morning. The incident took place at one Mohit Petroleum factory while welding was being done in the boiler of molasses tank here. While six people have died and two are injured, one person is said to be missing.
The search operation is on for the missing person.

Heavy police force rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area to keep locals away from the incident site. There was shock and mourning among the families of the deceased. The incident took place at around 8am on Wednesday, when some of the labourers here were welding inside the boiler of the molasses tank. During the process, the tank suddenly caught fire and methane gas was formed leading to the blast in the boiler.

Bijnor SP Umesh Kumar Singh, said, "Six people have died and two have been critically injured in the blast. An investigation has been set up in the matter and action will be taken against whosoever is found guilty." Meanwhile, the Bijnor district administration has asked to give compensation to the victims as per the law.
