Amritsar: Jagtar Singh Hawara's panel stages dharna outside jail

AMRITSAR: Members of a panel formed by parallel jathedar of Akal Takht Jagtar Singh Hawara, the assassin of former Punjab chief minister Beant Singh, staged a protest demonstration in front of Amritsar jail on Wednesday to press for their demands.
Hawara is currently lodged in Tihar jail in Delhi.
The five-member committee had given an ultimatum to the government to hold protests in front of jails in Punjab on February 20 if their demands were not met by February 15.

Baljinder Singh, one of the member the committee told journalists that one of their demand was to arrest the remaining persons responsible for the Bargari incident, legal action against Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim, former chief minster and deputy chief minister Parkash Singh Badal and Sukhbir Singh Badal and former DGP Sumedh Saini. Another demand of committee was the release of Sikh political prisoners who had completed their jail terms and shifting of detained Sikh political prisoners to Punjab from other jails.
The committee also condemned the alleged discrimination of Kashmiri students at different places following the Pulwama terrorist attack.
