Woman flees from police custody

A woman who is a co-accused in a rape case fled from police custody at Bathinda civil hospital on Wednesday afternoon. She was brought to the hospital for a check-up.

BATHINDA: A woman who is a co-accused in a rape case fled from police custody at Bathinda civil hospital on Wednesday afternoon. She was brought to the hospital for a check-up.
Amandeep Kaur (25) hails from Ghumiara village in Muktsar and was being escorted by constable Manjit Kaur.
Sources said the constable had gone to use a washroom in the hospital when the undertrial escaped.
On coming out, the constable raised the when she could not find the accused. Amandeep and her husband, Vicky, are accused of rape and criminal conspiracy. The couple was brought to Bathinda jail in January.
Bathinda SSP Nanak Singh said efforts were on to arrest the undertrial. The constabled has been suspended after she was booked for negligence.
