Bareilly: The 99th Urs-e-Razvi of Dargah Aala Hazrat will be observed not only in Bareilly, but also in a dozen other countries. The annual event is observed to mark the death anniversary of Mujadid Imam Ahmed Raza Khan Qadri, founder of Barelvi school of Islam, which has followers across the globe.
As many followers from overseas are unable to visit Bareilly, members from the community organise the event overseas.
This year, Urs-e-Razvi will be observed in the US, Pakistan, Mauritius, Bangladesh, Dubai, Zimbabwe, Australia, Malawi, Holland, Oman, Turkey and Spain. On Friday, clerics at Dargah Aala Hazrat released the poster of Urs-e-Razvi to be held in New Jersey on November 12. Mufti Mohammed Salim Noori, spokesperson of Dargah Aala Hazrat, said, “Mohammed Moinuddin Razvi will organise Urs-e-Razvi at New Jersey. Women attend the event but they are made to sit in a separate room.”
Though Urs-e-Razvi will take place from November 13 to 15 in Bareilly, it is organised for only one night in other countries. “The event date varies, depending upon the conditions in the country. African countries mostly observe it on November 14, while other countries on November 15. These countries do not organise the event on a large scale like Bareilly, but Sunni Barelvi clerics there give religious speeches and talk about Aala Hazrat. They ask people to follow the path shown by Aala Hazrat. Urs-e-Razvi also helps people staying in different states to meet each other,” said Noori.
According to clerics, as 99 is considered to be an important religious number in Islam, the annual event will be a grand affair in Bareilly. It attracts lakhs of people from across the world every year.
