BHUBANESWAR: Sambit Behera from Bhubaneswar became the all-India topper in the scheduled caste (SC) category of the JEE (Advanced) examination 2019, the results of which were published on Friday.
He secured an all-India rank (AIR) of 45 in the coveted examination, which allows one to get admission into the IITs of the country. He had secured an AIR of 11 in JEE (Mains) 2019.

Sambit, son of a banker, moved to Kota in Rajasthan to continue his Class XII and started taking engineering coaching there. He said, "I am very happy. I want to get into IIT Bombay."
He had been preparing for the examination for the last two years. "I am interested in computer programming. I will opt for a BTech in computer science," he said.
He would advise JEE aspirants to focus on their subjects on a daily basis and choose good books for preparation.
Sayantan Dhar, a Sai International School student, secured an AIR of 51 in the examination. He stood fifth in the Kharagpur zone. He had scored 99.961 percentile in JEE Mains held in January this year.
Sayantan, son of a banker, wants to study computer science engineering at IIT Bombay. "I was preparing for the examination at a coaching institute in Bhubaneswar for the last two years. I used to devote around eight hours to prepare for the exam every day," he added.

Three other students from the school made it to the top-100 list. They were Sibasis Nayak with an AIR of 58, Pratik Choudhury at AIR 83 and Gyanaranjan Behura AIR (SC/ST) 6.
Altogether 4,360 students from Odisha qualified for the JEE (Mains), but only 575 could crack it.
IIT Bhubaneswar congratulated the rank holders and invited them to the JEE Open house organised by the institute on June 18. It will facilitate the students with requisite information and help them to make the right career choices and give them a hands-on experience of the IIT system.
Apart from all the JEE advanced qualified candidates, even the prospective students preparing for JEE examination in 2020 are welcome to visit IIT Bhubaneswar for a live counselling session for JEE Open House.
