Supreme Court collegium confirms transfer of Madras HC chief justice Tahilramani to Meghalaya, refuses to reconsider decision

It's official. The Supreme Court collegium has released its resolution dated August 28 recommending transfer of Madras high court Chief Justice V K Tahilramani to the Meghalaya high court.

CHENNAI: It's official. The Supreme Court collegium has released its resolution dated August 28 recommending transfer of Madras high court Chief Justice V K Tahilramani to the Meghalaya high court.
The collegium, through a resolution dated September 3, refused to consider Justice Tahilramani's representation seeking to reconsider the decision.
"This collegium, vide minutes dated August 28, recommended transfer of Justice V K Tahilramani, Chief Justice, Madras high court, in the interest of better administration of justice, to the Meghalaya high court.
Upon being requested to send her response in terms of the Memorandum of Procedure, Justice V K Tahilramani through representation dated September 2, for reasons stated therein, has requested to reconsider the proposal for her transfer to the Meghalaya high
court. The collegium has carefully gone through the aforesaid representation and taken into consideration all relevant factors. On reconsideration, the collegium is of the considered view that it is not possible to accede to her request. The collegium, accordingly, reiterates its recommendation for her transfer to the Meghalaya high court," the collegium comprising Chief Justice of India Justice Ranjan Gogoi, Justice S A Bobde, Justice N V Ramana, Justice Arun Mishra , and Justice R F Nariman said through the resolution.
The collegium has also passed a separate resolution transferring present Chief Justice of Meghalaya high court A K Mittal to the Madras high court.
