GHAZIABAD: The body of a 50-year-old man was found in a parked car in Shakti Khand 4 of Indirapuram on Sunday. He was identified as Anupam Dutt, a resident of south Delhi.
An identity card found in the car mentions Dutt as chief revenue officer of a Delhi-based independent body, National Justice Council. In the evening, local people had informed police about a man lying unconscious inside a Swift Dzire.
A police team found him dead in the vehicle, which was at the spot for over 18 hours.
Dutt was found in the driver’s seat that had been parked in front of a three-storey building. According to police, the building had been taken on rent by a de-addiction organisation, Vikalp Counselling & De-addiction Centre, nearly one-and-a-half months ago.
“Anupam had undergone treatment for alcohol abuse at our de-addiction centre in Rajendra Nagar last year. He had lived at the centre for a month in December 2017. His treatment had been completed. Later, he used to help us in our work. He was helping us with renovation work of the building we had hired. Perhaps he had gone to make payments to labourers on Saturday night. I'm not aware about his association with the Delhi-based NGO,” Pradeep Goyal, founder of the rehab centre, said.
Police said Dutt used to work earlier with National Justice Council.
Police questioned several people, including the guard, Sahabuddin, who was on duty in the area on Saturday night.
“The man had arrived at the building around 1am on Sunday. He seemed to be drunk. He began yelling at the building’s gate asking for its owner. I told him there was no one inside. He went back and reclined on the driver’s seat. He had kept the door open for a while but had closed it when I returned for another round,” Sahabuddin told police.
“The body was sent for autopsy. No injury marks were found on the body,” SSP Vaibhav Krishna said.
