Aguada sand bar to be open from Sept 16
Panaji: The captain of ports department has notified that the Aguada sand bar has been declared open for all waterborne traffic with effect from midnight of September 16.
It is also notified that the lighthouses of Campal, Tejo front, Tejo rear, Reis Magos, Penha de Franca and Aguada beacon will function from September 16 with usual characteristics.
The old Aguada lighthouse, located inside the fort, exhibits a fixed white light visible over an area of 153 degrees equidisposed on either side of the line traversing the old Aguada lighthouse structure and the Aguada beacon at the foot of the hill.
Mariners are particularly warned to keep well to the seaward of such a line giving wide berth to the shoals of outer patches, Amee shoals and Sunchi reefs.
Navigation through Cumbharjua canal under Banastarim bridge is banned except with prior permission, states a press release.
