Congress continues to demand ban on fish imports
Panaji: Goa Pradesh Congress Committee has demanded a ban on import of fish from far off states till the controversy over the use of formalin to preserve seafood is resolved.
Expressing concern over the BJP-led government’s ability to ensure that formalin is not used to preserve fish, GPCC president Girish Chodankar said that the Congress party could launch a state-wide agitation after Ganesh Chaturti if their fish import ban demands were not met.

“The Congress party will mobilize workers from all across the state. We are ready to agitate, even to the extend of going on a hunger strike if the government does not stop the import of fish from other states,” the GPCC president said.
