PANAJI: Chief minister
Manohar Parrikar, who is travelling to the US for a
medical check-up, will not be available till August 17. He left for Mumbai on Thursday evening, from where he will depart for the US.
The chief minister’s office, on Thursday afternoon, issued a statement announcing that Parrikar would not be available for seven days. No orders were issued handing over charge to any senior minister in the cabinet.
In the chief minister’s absence, speaker Pramod Sawant will unfurl the tricolour and take the salute during Independence Day celebrations next week.
The last time
Parrikar, 62, visited the US was in March. He spent over three months there receiving treatment for a pancreatic ailment. He was first diagnosed with the ailment somewhere in February.
