HISAR: The superintendent of food and supplies department was arrested by the vigilance bureau on Tuesday for accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a depot holder in the mini-secretariat in Fatehabad town.
Vigilance inspector Subhash said depot holder Rajender, a resident of Mehuwala village, had complained to the police against food and supplies department superintendent Chatar Singh for demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from him.
The complainant said Chatar had come to his depot for inspection and threatened to cancel the licence over irregularities. The vigilance team laid a trap and when the depot holder went to hand over the amount to the superintendent he was arrested.
The accused has been booked and will be produced in the court on Wednesday.
