Three minors among four held for looting smartphones
Indore: Annapurna police on Wednesday arrested three minors and a young girl for looting mobile phone from a manager a year ago.
The arrested accused told police that they used to commit loots because they loved operating high-end smartphones and since they couldn’t afford it, they decided to loot it from strangers on roads.
In July 2017, police had registered a case against unidentified persons for stealing mobile phone on complaint of a manager, Akanksha Rathore, a resident of Usha Nagar.

Annapurna police station in charge Satish Dwivedi told TOI that the complainant was returning home from a temple when the incident took place. The accused came on a moped and made away with her purse. Two months after the incident, police arrested Ravi Talreja, the person to whom the mobile phone was sold at his shop at Jail Road.
He told police that he had spoken to a girl several times over phone to discuss about the rate. Based on this, his call details were extracted, and it was examined. Police traced the girl’s number and took out her profile picture from WhatsApp. Pictures of her friends, who were involved in the crime, were also taken out from the WhatsApp.
Riddhi, a resident of Mishra Nagar, the oldest among the four, was arrested along with a 17-year-old girl, resident of Nehru Nagar, and two boys, residents of Aradhna Nagar and Aerodrome area. Riddhi is daughter of a cloth trader and is currently studying in B Com first year.

Police said that all the accused come from a middle-class family. Nehru Nagar’s girl is a student of Class XII in a private school, while Aerodrome’s youth has left studies after Class XII. He was recently arrested for vandalizing vehicles parked in front of houses.
Aradhana Nagar resident is taking training to become a pilot, whereas his mother runs a spoken English coaching centre.
