JAIPUR: Brace yourself for warmer summer this year, as India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that maximum and minimum temperatures in northern-western parts including Rajasthan would be hotter than previous years. From April to June the average maximum temperatures are likely to be warmer than normal by 0.5 degree Celsius to 1.0 degree Celsius. Also the situation is going to be severe in the western parts of the state including Jaisalmer, Barmer and Jodhpur.

IMD on Sunday said that the minimum and mean temperatures in Rajasthan are already above normal by 1.0 degree Celsius. Chittorgarh remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 42.4 degree Celsius was recorded.
"The ongoing climatic pattern despite minor spells of dust storms and rainfall clearly suggests that there is going to be a rise of almost three to four degree Celsius in the temperature from April to June across the state. Western and eastern parts of the state including Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Jalore, Dausa, Jaipur, Bharatpur and Alwar are going to get higher maximum temperatures compared to 2018," said an officer with IMD, Delhi.
Going by this, many places in Rajasthan are likely to get its maximum temperatures on or above 44.0 degree Celsius.
Chittorgarh was followed by Kota and Sawai Madhopur where a maximum temperature of 42.3 degree Celsius each was recorded, Jodhpur 40.9, Barmer and Ajmer 40.5 degree Celsius each, Udaipur 40.4, Churu 40.0, Bikaner 39.8 and a maximum temperature of 37.8 degree Celsius was recorded in Sriganganagar.
Jaipurities woke up to a comparatively warmer morning as a minimum temperature of 25.8 degree Celsius, almost four degrees above the normal notch was recorded. It was followed by a sultry afternoon when a maximum temperature of 39.8 degree Celsius was recorded.
In its forecast Jaipur Met office said that minor relief is likely to be witnessed in some parts of the state as there is a possibility of dust storm and rainfall in some parts of eastern and northern Rajasthan.
