Ajmer: MDSU witnesses highest polling
AJMER: Polling for student union in Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati University (MDSU) also in different colleges went smoothly amidst tight security on Friday in the district. Police used mild power to control students at MDSU who tried to block the main road. Polling percentage remained highest at MDSU, while lowest at Government College in Ajmer.
Interestingly, two girls were caught at the university for coming to vote in the name of other girl students.
One student at DAV College was caught while giving vote in the name of other student. Eleven students were detained by clock tower police from Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan Government College entering without identification.
As polling was over at one in the afternoon both ABVP and NSUI claimed their victory in different colleges and organized rallies in different parts of the city. Polling boxes were sealed and kept under protection as the counting will be on September 11.
Meanwhile, at MDSU total 698 students voted out of 981 and polling percentage remained 71.15%. Similarly, at Samrat Prithviraj Chauhan Government College only 41.70% students voted for student union as only 3,534 out of 8,473 students came to use their voting rights. In Government Girls’ College where there is a triangular fight for president post 44.67% of students voted as 1,425 out of 3,190 students voted this time. In Dayanand College, 1,521 out of 2,391 students voted this time.
According to district administration, the polling at different institutes went peacefully and no report of any fight or disturbance came from anywhere.
Heavy police was deployed at different places and students were not allowed inside the campus without showing their identity card. Even there was a checking before entering into polling station.
