JAISALMER: With BJP’s Gaurav Yatra, Congress’ Sankalp rally and
Manvendra Singh’s Swabhiman rally, all geared to storm Barmer in the coming days, Marwar politics seems to be focused on the district. More so, at the refinery in Pachpadra.
While BJP’s yatra is proposed to be held on September 2, the Congress rally is scheduled on September 5, and former Union minister
Jaswant Singh’s son and Sheo MLA Manvendra Singh will be taking out his Swabhiman rally on September 22.
The foundation stone for the dream oil refinery in the
Thar desert was first laid by the Congress in 2013. Later, the BJP government reviewed the refinery project and once again, after four years, Prime Minister
Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone at Pachpadra for commencement of work for the refinery. Both the parties have been ever since trying to take credit for the refinery. As of now, the boundary wall of the refinery is in its final stage.
On September 2, Raje, during her yatra, will launch many schemes here and will strengthen her campaign by taking credit for the refinery. She will also dedicate a drinking water scheme project which was moving at a snail’s pace since last 15 years.
The biggest show, however, could be on September 22, when Manvendra Singh’s rally sweeps the desert. It is expected that he might join some other party.
