JODHPUR: Former chief minister and AICC general secretary Ashok Gehlot has said chief minister Vasundhara Raje has nothing to do with the common man and that is why she has been travelling for most part of her ‘Gaurav Yatra’ in a helicopter.
Terming it ‘helicopter yatra’, Gehlot asked why Raje was scared and avoiding mingling with the people. Gehlot arrived in Jodhpur on Monday, two days ahead of the Congress ‘Sankalp rally’ to be held at Pachpadra in Barmer district on September 5.

Talking to reporters, Gehlot said that Raje has been claiming that she has been going to the people to give account of the works done by her in the past five years and questioned what account she has been giving. “She should apologise to the people and tell them that they gave her a huge mandate but she could not work,” Gehlot said.
He accused Raje of spreading terror in the yatra and triggering a curfew-like situation by ordering people to remain inside their homes and not show black flags. “In Barmer, it was ordered that nobody will come on the roofs or balconies of their houses during the meeting of Raje. This is like a curfew,” Gehlot said.
“There was embargo on showing black flags and allowing people near her, who wanted to see her and meet her. Why is she so scared? What type of democracy is it?” Gehlot asked.
He held Raje responsible for delaying the refinery project for four years in the name of reviewing it and got the foundation stone re-laid. “Today there is just a wall in the name of refinery construction. Had it not been delayed, the refinery would have taken full shape today,” Gehlot said.
Accusing her of delaying and aborting a number of projects across the state, Gehlot said that every section of the society was angry with her today and was desperate for change.
