Second leg of Vasundhara Raje's Gaurav Yatra ends

JAISALMER: Chief minister Vasundhara Raje, wrapped up the second leg of her Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra on Sunday by addressing a public rally on Sunday at Pachpadra in Barmer district. The second leg of her yatra was marked by the attack and opposition it faced from certain sections in Jodhpur district on August 25. However, she also received a good response in several areas including district of Barmer, where more protests were anticipated but the yatra passed off peacefully.

On Sunday, Raje addressed three rallies at Pareu, Siwana and Pachpadara in Barmer district. Claiming that five years were not enough for any government, she appealed for support to BJP during the forthcoming assembly elections. "Permanent government can change the state by doing development works, therefore it should be given a chance once again," said Raje.
Attacking the Congress, she said the opposition, which was sitting comfortably till now without being bothered about the people, is now taking out a 'Sankalp Yatra'. "Why the need of a Sankalp Yatra now? Why did the Congress not act in the 50 years when it was in power?'' she said.
She also lashed out at the Congress over the Rajasthan Refinery at Pachpadra where Congress alleged that Raje did not bother to obtain the required environmental clearances and instead went ahead with the foundation stone laying ceremony only get her name on the plaque. "Congress neither had the clearances and the required permissions nor did they have a plan for it. BJP reviewed the project and saved Rs 40,000 crore. Where was Congress taking this amount and whose pocket was it to go into?'' she said. The chief minister announced that rehabilitation of salt mine owners on 850 hectares, acquired for refinery, will be done by allotting them land in a new area along with a compensation of Rs 5 crore.
Raje claimed that after her government came to power in December 2013, she took up all the stalled projects and slow pace projects in her hands and allotted funds to ensure that the projects are completed as soon as possible. "In Barmer and Jaisalmer, Rs. 1,454 crore was approved for a drinking water scheme for Pokhran, Phalsoond and Balotra. Works worth Rs 1,427 have already completed in this project, despite several challenges faced," said Raje.

The CM, on Sunday, also visited Viratra Mata Temple in Chauhatan area and Nagnechi temple in Balotra area. Raje covered the six districts of Jodhpur division in two parts during the seven-day yatra, covering a distance of 1,285 kms and addressing 20 public rallies in 32 of the 33 assembly constituencies in the region. Raje would next be touring the division of Bikaner from September 6 to September 11 as part of her ongoing yatra.
