KANPUR: SP national general secretary and Rajya Sabha member Ram Gopal Yadav on Monday indirectly attacked Shivpal Yadav's recently launched Samajwadi Secular Morcha, citing the example of a similar attempt by former party leader Amar Singh way back in 2012.
"Amar Singh had floated Rashtriya Lok Manch and fought on nearly 403 seats, but drew a blank in the 2012 assembly elections. Having failed to even open an account, it further sank into oblivion.
Such type of parties meet similar fate," said Ram Gopal while indirectly hitting at formation of the Secular Morcha.
He was in Etawah on Monday to take part in Bharat Bandh on a call given by the Congress.
Launching a scathing attack on BJP, the SP leader said that prior to 2014 Lok Sabha election, BJP in its manifesto had promised that 'aman chain' (peace) will prevail in the country. "But, now 'aman chain' is no where to be found and the country is reeling under tension," said Ram Gopal.
He added, "Bringing unrest, causing feud and dividing people are some salient features for which BJP is now known for. They (BJP) are least bothered where the country is heading or where it will go in future, because it is they (BJP) who will be benefitted most in such situation."
He also criticised and accused the Modi-led BJP government at the Centre of letting Vijay Mallya, diamond merchant Nirav Modi and his uncle Mehlu Choksi flee the country. "One wants to purchase a cow for better milk yield, but one also fears for his life. Such is the fear of the animal that people shudder and don't even want to take its name," he added. "The BJP-led government did not provide jobs to two crore youth in a year as was promised by Modi in the run up to the 2014 general elections," he said.
