Man pours boiling water on wife in Kochi

KOCHI: A 29-year-old woman reportedly sustained burn injuries after her husband poured boiling water on her following an argument on Monday night. Eloor police have registered an FIR against Bastin, her husband, under IPC section 307, however his arrest is yet to be recorded. The injured woman was identified as Mary Decker, who stays at a rented place in Eloor.
“She sustained 50% burns on her body and he has burns on his hands.Both were admitted to a hospital. As per preliminary inquiry, the man poured boiling water on his wife, hence an FIR with him as the accused has been registered. He couldn’t be taken into custody due to his condition and is kept under observation. Further action, including arrest, would be done after a probe,” said a policeman with Eloor police.
Police said the couple had a personal argument when she was boiling water on an induction cooker. The agitated man poured the boiling water on her and sustained burn injuries, police said.
