MUMBAI: The entire 20-km long monorail corridor between Chembur and Jacob Circle may open on February 27 as the MMRDA has stated it is ready with the rakes and infrastructure to commence service. The facility has been operational only on the 8.8-km route between Chembur and Wadala depot since February 2014.
Sources said MMRDA has sought CM Devendra Fadnavis’s time to flag off the service as the state budget session begins from February 27 and the vote on account (interim budget) will be presented on that day.
Operations will run from 6am to 10pm at a 20-minute frequency, once the full phase opens. There will be a total of 130 services, and fares will be in the range of Rs 10-40.
