NMC launches lakes conservation awareness drive
NAGPUR: The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), in association with Equi City, launched a public awareness drive for conservation of Naik and Lendi lakes situated in Central Nagpur.
Deputy mayor Deepraj Pardikar, Amruta Anand of Equi City, Anasuya Chhabrani of NGO Swachh Association, Shefali Dudhbede and others were present at a programme organized as part of the drive at Naik lake on Friday.
Pardikar said public participation is must for conservation of all water bodies.
“City used to be known for large number of lakes. All water bodies were attraction of the city. Unfortunately, many of the lakes have been contaminated due to dumping of garbage and release of untreated sewage. Need is to conserve all lakes. NMC is taking efforts and people should help by not increasing the pollution,” he said.
