Pune: Robbery after threat to kill woman’s kids

PUNE: Four people barged into a house in Kalewadi in the early hours of Monday finding its door half-open, threatened a 35-year-old woman to kill her children and robbed Rs1.25 lakh besides gold ornaments, collectively worth Rs10 lakh.
The terrified woman later in the day approached the Wakad police and lodged a complaint. The police have registered an offence of robbery.
An officer from the Wakad police said the woman was alone in the house as her husband had gone out for some work. “The woman woke up around 4am on Monday went out to fetch water without locking the door,” the officer said.
When she returned, she was shocked to see the four men in her house.
“Before she could even ask who they were and what they were doing in her house, two of them threatened her with sharp weapons and told her to hand over all the valuables,” the officer said.
He said when the woman tried to resist them, the suspects threatened to kill her daughter and son. “The terrified woman then stopped resisting. The duo fled with Rs1.25 lakh and gold ornaments, collectively worth Rs10 lakh, from her house and fled,” the officer said.
He said the woman alerted her neighbours after a while. “We have launched a search for the suspects,” the officer said.
