Man sentenced to 10 years for raping minor girl

RAJKOT: A Dhoraji court in Rajkot district sentenced 10 years imprisonment to a man for raping a minor girl in a train stationed at Ahmedabad’s Kalupur railway station. The court also ordered the convict to pay a fine of Rs 14,000.
According to case details, Gutam Paswan a resident of Bihar came to Gujarat for work and lured the minor girl with a promise of marriage. Gautam was a supervisor in the factory where rape survivor worked under him.
He took the girl to Bihar to meet his relatives but before reaching there, while waiting for connecting train to Bihar at Kalupur railway station in Ahmedabad, he raped the girl in the train docked at station. According to the girl, Guatam had raped her in a moving train also when they were coming back from Bihar. Gutam was already married and he made false promise to her.
Gautam on the other hand argued in the court that it was consensual sex. Assistant public prosecutor Kartikey Parekh argued that a body of a woman is not a tool of entertainment for man and consensual sex by promise of the marriage is considered as rape, the accused was aware that victim is minor and he made a false promise of marriage to her.
