'Mission to make India malnutrition-free by 2022 doing well in Meghalaya'

SHILLLONG: Poshan Abhiyaan, which was launched by the Union government to India free of malnutrition by 2022, has been evoking a very positive response in Meghalaya, officials have said.
Formally launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 8, 2018, Poshan Abhiyaan aims to address the problem of malnutrition by reducing stunting, low birth weight and anaemia amongt children of 0-6 years, adolescent girls, and pregnant and nursing mothers.

LM Momin, who is the additional director in the state's social welfare department, said September is being observed as the month of Poshan Abhiyaan. "The mission starts from the village and block level to the district, state and national level," he said. A common application software for mobile phones is being used to monitor, register and record the various stages of the mission across the state, he added. tnn
