TRICHY: The Trichy City Corporation on Wednesday obtained
administrative sanction for a biomining project in Ariyamangalam dump yard.
After going through the proposal submitted by the corporation, a high-power committee comprising senior bureaucrats in the
Tamil Nadu government okayed the project that will be taken up under the
smart city mission.
With the one of the two mandatory nods required for the project obtained, the civic body hopes to receive technical sanction in two weeks for floating a tender to identify suitable third-party agency to execute it.
The civic body will take up ground work for the project within six months.
Once biomining starts in the dump yard, biodegradable waste will be utilised for making manure and non-biodegradable waste will be processed and sent to industries where it will be used as reusable fuel in furnaces.
“One of the pending demands of Trichy locals is just a step away from receiving a permanent solution. Once the works for biomining begins, close to 35 acres land in Ariyamangalam dump yard will be reclaimed and be used for constructive purposes,”
