AMARAVATI: Chief minister Chandrababu Naidu said Yuva Nestam would be launched on October 2 to provide Rs 1000 monthly stipend for the eligible unemployed youth in the state.
Replying to a short discussion on Yuva Nestam in AP Legislative Council on Tuesday, the chief minister said that the Yuva Nestam was aimed at empowering youth through skill development, self-employment opportunities and utilize the youth power for development of economy.
He wanted the youth to develop positive attitude and update skills using technology.
The chief minister said that the state government will give skill development training to 10 lakh youth and providing employment opportunities to youth. He said 260 training partners were appointed to train and provide employment opportunities to youth. The training partners were appointed from Singapore, Germany and UK, besides some from India.
The chief minister said Gnana Bheri, Yuva Nestam and skill development programmes are aimed at empowering youth. He said that the state government was encouraging industrialization to provide employment to youth and improve economy. He said the double digit growth would be possible only with development of economy. He said for the first time the Yuva Nestam programme is proposed to be implemented in a big way in the state and no other state has such programme.
The chief minister said if the Centre came forward extending cooperation by sanctioning railway zone, steel plant at Kadapa, Port and special category status to state there would be more opportunities for the youth to find employment. Though the central government was not cooperating, the state government has taken up several irrigation projects including Polavaram project and making efforts to complete them. He also listed several initiatives of the government to mobilize investment to the state and thus create employment opportunities too. The Kia Motors and the mobile phone manufacturing units were established in the state giving job opportunities to the youth, he said and added that 30 per cent of the mobiles manufactured in the country are produced in the state. He said he was trying to increase this 30 per cent share to 50 per cent in the next couple of years so as to increase the employment potential.

Separate portal for registration
Earlier, minister for IT Nara Lokesh said a job portal will be created for the youth to register for the stipend. All the large and medium companies operating in the country will be given access to the job portal to search for talented youth. A special mobile app will also be created for the convenience of unemployed youth and employers to make job search easy and hassle-free.
Explaining the eligibility criteria, the minister said individuals below poverty line, aged between 22 to 35 years, having a degree from recognized university, registered in Praja Sadhikara Survey, and having Aadhar card linked with bank accounts are eligible.
He said the eligible candidates should log on to Yuvanestham.ap.gov.in website and register online. On entering the individual’s Aadhaar number an OTP is sent to the registered mobile number. Upon entering the OTP, the system will automatically identify the beneficiary and display eligibility result. If the individual’s eligibility is not approved then he can place his grievance by dialing 1100 people first.
