The highly anticipated biopic ‘Sanju’, based on the life of actor Sanjay Dutt and starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead finally released the world over on Friday, amidst much hype and appreciation. With critics, fans and even film stars hailing to the film of being one of Ranbir’s best works, it’s no wonder then that director Rajkumar Hirani and team were on cloud 9. However, if reports are to be believed, the makers received their first blow when news of the film's leak broke.

Netizen took to social media to share screenshots of the film available for download while others also claimed that an HD print of the film had also leaked online.
Apart from pirated prints being available online, another 25-year-old was reportedly arrested for selling pirated copies for Rs 10-20. This case was brought to light after the T-series management filed a complaint against the accused, who had reportedly been a part of such activities on many occasions.

Soon after news of the leak broke, Ranbir Kapoor fans swooped in to condemn the act of piracy and urged others to go the theatre and catch a screening of the film. “#SanjuLeaked... Don't Share Its Torrent Links Guys. Say No To Piracy,” a fan said in his tweet.

Another said, “Say no to piracy so much hard work &intrinsic passion goes through making a film. Don’t spoil it. #Sanjuleaked.”

Yet another questioned why film bodies were not stepping up to slam the act if not put an end to piracy altogether. Despite the loss of revenue through these unlawful means, ‘Sanju’ opened to a massive Rs 34 crore at the ticket windows on Day 1, and went on to add another Rs 38.25 crore nett on Saturday. The film’s domestic box office earnings stand at an impressive Rs 72.25 crore, with trade experts predicting that the film will cross the 100-crore mark within its first weekend.

'Sanju' is being screened in more than 5000 screens across the country.
Ranbir Kapoor left everyone in sheer amazement when his pictures as Sanjay Dutt were leaked online last year. As much as the makers were trying to keep the look concealed, the paparazzi were successful in getting a glimpse at Ranbir’s transformation for ‘Sanju’. Ever since then the excitement around the film hasn’t died down even a tadbit.
