Trouble at Bhagat Singh college over wrong cutoff

Trouble at Bhagat Singh college over wrong cutoff
NEW DELHI: Trouble erupted at Shaheed Bhagat Singh Evening College after the college administration mistakenly put out a wrong cutoff for its BCom course. This led to confusion among students who had come to the college seeking admission.
The college soon realised its mistake and put out the correct cutoff by noon. Some of the students were unhappy with the incorrect cutoff as they had cancelled their admissions in other colleges and come to Shaheed Bhagat Singh College to get admitted there.

Political groups banked in on the situation and a dharna was staged by members of the NSUI asking for response from the college authorities. The administration, however, assured students who had cancelled their admissions from other colleges that their cancellation will be forfeited.
The college administration clarified that it was a mistake and that they had wrongly written the BCom cutoff as 80% instead of 90 % in their fifth cutoff list which they had sent to the university.
“We found out our mistake at 10am and informed the university about it, who immediately issued a corrigendum. But by then, many had already been misled by the wrong number and turned up at the college by 1pm as evening college admission starts late,” the college administration said.
