ALLAHABAD: Authorities of Allahabad University have issued a show cause notice to five inmates of Dr SRK hostel of AU and have suspended their enrollment till further orders. These Five are students of BTech part II of the department of electronics and communication (JK Institute).
The suspended students have been charged of 'troubling' the junior inmates of their hostel in the name of taking 'intro' (introduction) which comes under the ambit of ragging.

Following a letter, written by the hostel warden, Prof J A Ansari, AU proctor, Prof R S Dubey, has issued the show cause letter to these students and have asked them to report to his office on September 11 along with their parents and explain as to why punitive action should not be taken against them and they should not be expelled from AU on charges of ragging their juniors.
"One of the parent reported the matter and after conducting a detail inquiry, I found out that five students of BTech-II including Anurag Amrit, Anurag Mishra, Manvendra Rai, Ashish Kataria and Siddhant Kumar were troubling their junior and unnecessarily harassing him", said Prof Ansari. I spoke to parents of the senior inmates and have written to proctor with the recommendation of taking suitable action, he added.
AU proctor said, "In the notice served to them we have pointed out that these acts come under the purview of ragging which is illegal and banned. They have been asked to report at the proctor's office along with their parents on Tuesday and submit their explanations both verbally and in writing as to why they should not be expelled for their actions".
