Behavioural finance, with its roots in the psychological study of human decision-making, is a new and evolving subject in the field of finance, said Prof P Nagabhushan, director, IIIT-A here on Friday.

ALLAHABAD: Behavioural finance, with its roots in the psychological study of human decision-making, is a new and evolving subject in the field of finance, said Prof P Nagabhushan, director, IIIT-A here on Friday.
Inaugurating the one week summer school on Behavioural finance organized by MBA Department in administrative building auditorium on Friday morning, the Director said that the behavioral finance studies different psychological biases that humans possess.
These biases, while having their place and purpose in nature, lead to irrational investment decisions. He narrated two stories how a man applied his different rational in a similar circumstances. He laid stress on applying of behavioral response.
Behavioural finance is an emerging area of study which considers the theories based on psychology to elucidate the anomalies in the financial market. Of late there are lots of researches happening in the field of behavioural finance. The development of technology has made accessible the information for the general public. Any information is available to the investors at a relatively faster rate than ever before.
Dr Ranjit Singh, Coordinator briefed about the objective of the workshop that was to introduce the academicians, researchers and professionals on the various facets of Behavioral Finance. The Behavioral finance is an emerging area of study which considers the theories based on psychology to elucidate the anomalies in the financial market. The course has the objective of introducing the participants with fundamental of behavioral finance and intends to take them to a stage where they can apply this knowledge in everyday professional and personal financial decision making.
On this occasion Dean Human Affair, Prof. U.S.Tiwari, Dean IRP, Prof. Sekhar Verma and Dean Academics Prof. T. Lahri shared their views on the topic. The Head, Management Department Dr. Vijayshri Tiwari also discussed the details regarding the workshop and what participant would expect to learn in one week.
Dr. Shashi Kant Rai, faculty at MBA Department said that around 35 participants across the country are taking part in the programme while Dr. Saurabh Mishra , IIIT-A proposed a vote of thanks on the occasion.
