BHUBANESWAR: Xavier University Bhubaneswar (XUB) has set up the School of Government and Public Affairs to provide leadership training and courses on public policy and governance. It will launch master in public policy course on July 7 this year.
Purpose of the course is to create real leaders of tomorrow and build knowledge hub on governance, policy research and analysis. Besides masters programme, the institution will also offer Executive Capacity Development Programme of short duration (starting from one week to 10 days).
Young politicians and people's representatives can enroll for this programme.

The course will focus on human rights, governance, business and public policy, women empowerment and gender equality, development of grassroots institutions and public finance and audit. The school will start with six centres and add more such centres later.
Paul Fernandes, vice chancellor of the university, here on Friday said they will take at least 40 students in first batch for this two-year four-semester course. Keeping the demand in mind, the university may increase the seats later, he added.
He said the person, who wants to enroll for this post-graduation (PG) programme, will have to submit statement of purpose before taking admission for the course. "The student has to mention about his purpose of joining for the programme. This course has been designed with inputs from international experts in public policy and business," he added.

Farnandes said his institute has made collaboration with the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in Syracuse University of the USA. The XUB will collaborate with other renowned public policy schools to make the new school a leading one in the world, he added.
School of Government and Public Affairs is 11th school of the university. Last year, the university had added law school into its fold.
