NEW DELHI: After
Pakistan sought to raise the
Kashmir issue at the
UN, India hit back saying pacific settlement required pacific intent in thinking and pacific content in action.
India’s Permanent Representative
Syed Akbaruddin said Pakistan should work to build a South Asian region free of terror instead of resorting to a “failed approach’’ on the Kashmir issue.
Akbaruddin said it was important to not charge the UN with responsibilities it may be ill-suited to perform.
“It is in line with this approach that I take this opportunity to remind Pakistan -the one isolated delegation that made unwarranted references to an integral part of India -that pacific settlement requires pacific intent in thinking and pacific content in action,’’ said Akbaruddin, participating in a UNSC debate on mediation and settlement of disputes.
