ALLAHABAD: A two week long summer school cum workshop on machine learning on advances in deep architecture for signal, image & vision applications (ADASIVA) began at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad here on Saturday.
Inaugurating the workshop, Prof P Nagabhushan, Director, IIIT-A said that deep architectures are playing the most important role in the area of machine learning and are considered as one of the future technologies and it is anticipated to be a complete paradigm shift in the area of artificial intelligence by researchers.

Prof Nagabhushan discussed about various aspects of research, academics and in particular deep learning. He gave an insight into the areas of deep learning where there is a need of research. He discussed problems in deep learning such as need for lesser training data to train the deep architecture.
Prof BB Chaudhuri discussed about various aspects of human intelligence. He however warned that as we are trying to imitate the human intelligence, care must be taken that human race benefits from such development.
Prof Shekhar Verma enlightened the audience with machine learning advancements and ended his talk with congratulating the convener and coordinators of ADASIVA to organise this summer school.
Prof Vijendra Singh, Head of IT Department, briefed the participants about advancements of machine learning to deep learning from early 1950's to 2014 and beyond.
Dr Satish Kumar Singh coordinator of the workshop said that it was a well -accepted fact that the field of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is growing exponentially. The workshop was being organised on account of the enormous opportunities present in this rich field so that the young researchers in India can harvest the latest advances in their own areas.
