KRISHNAGIRI (Wayanad):
Gujarat captain
Parthiv Patel has expressed his displeasure at the uneven nature of the pitch at Krishnagiri Stadium for the
Ranji Trophy quarterfinal which his team lost by a huge margin of 113 runs to
Kerala.
"I wouldn't say it was the proper wicket. It wasn't the greatest of wickets for a Ranji Trophy quarterfinal. The scores are suggesting. I don't mind playing on a seaming wicket or a turning wicket.
Up and down wicket from ball one is something we don't want. Everyone saw how many balls were hitting the batsmen. Seaming wicket, bouncy wicket that's not a problem. To start up and down from the first day first session, it's a bit dangerous," said Parthiv.
Parthiv, however, said that Kerala deserved to win the match. "We were outbowled throughout the game. They bowled better than us on this wicket and they deserved to win. Our shot selection could have been better in the first innings. Conceding 185 runs on that wicket and then again 171 was definitely more than ideal," he said.
